Louallen Is Top Votegetter In Dayton Council Race

Gary Louallen was the top votegetter in a Dayton City Council race. He received 490 to 482 for Paul Riggs and 106 for Jerry Morgan.

Mary Sue Garrison won the election for mayor of Spring City. She had 363 to 47 for Beecher Evans and 8 for Rod Adams.

For the City Commission in Spring City Mike Jolley was on top with 348. Howard Gilliam had 205 Reba Mitchell Murphy 136, Lee Booker 118, Carl Hasselbach 113 and Ronald Daniel 20.

Tommy Snyder won for road supervisor, defeating James "Cornbread" Gilliam, 3,082 to 251.

In the local sales tax referendum, it was 1,942 for and 1,810 against.

For U.S. Senate, Democratic, it was Gary Davis 213, Mark Clayton 128, Mike Padgett 79, Robert Tuke 58, Kenneth Eaton 53 and Leonard Ladner 19.

Republican Lamar Alexander picked up 2,665.

Rep. Zach Wamp had 2,610 to 271 for Teresa Sheppard. Democrat Doug Vandagriff received 513.


Less Than Month Remains For Free Upgrade To Photo Driver's License

Hamilton County Clerk Bill Knowles said that less than a month remains for county residents wishing to upgrade their non-photo driver’s license without cost in the County Clerk’s Courthouse office.
