2 Units Damaged In Fire At East Ridge Apartments

Saturday, September 13, 2008

Two units were damaged in a fire at an East Ridge apartment complex on Friday night.

At approximately 9:54 p.m., East Ridge Fire/Rescue and East Ridge Police Department responded to the Delta Apartments at 2010 McBrien Road. First Responders arrived within one minute to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the structure.

Police and firefighters assisted residents in evacuating the 10-unit apartment building as other fire crews arrived on the scene. An interior attack of the fire was established and the fire was contained to only two apartment units.

The apartment where the fire appears to have originated was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The occupants had been gone for approximately an hour and a half when the fire started.

Although the cause and origin are under investigation by East Ridge fire/arson investigators, it does not appear that foul play is involved in this incident.

Residents from all 10 units remained evacuated overnight. The owner of the complex made arrangements for those tenants that needed a place to stay for the night.

Fort Oglethorpe Fire Department also responded to the scene on automatic aid.

Units responding include East Ridge Engine 1, Engine 2, Quint 3, Rescue 1, HazMat 1, Support 1, Support 2 and Squad 1. Fort Oglethorpe Engine 10, Ladder 1, and two units with Memorial EMS were also on scene.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
