Laurie Shipley Takes Post With Comcast

Laurie J. Shipley has accepted the position of manager of government affairs for Comcast systems serving Chattanooga.

Ms. Shipley has seven years experience in public relations including business manager of the Chattanooga Theatre Centre, director of marketing and community relations at Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga and, most recently, as the director of development and marketing for the city of Chattanooga’s Department of Education, Arts & Culture.

She also served as vice president of development and marketing for Girls Inc. In these roles she was responsible for media relations, government relations on a local and state level as well as organizing special events, and being the spokeswoman for all of these organizations.



Ms. Shipley has a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and served as a U.S. Naval Oceanographic Officer in the United States Navy. She has been honored as Chattanooga’s 2008 Woman of Distinction and serves the Chattanooga community on a variety of boards and organizations.

She is married to Tom Shipley, the director of quality assurance for Walden Security in Chattanooga. Their daughter, Keli, is a junior at Girls Preparatory School. Ms. Shipley is also a dog lover and has two “girls,” a nine-year-old Humane Society Special and a two-year-old rescued Jack Russell Terrier.

Prosecutors Asking Maximum Sentence For "Evil" Mother Of Jesse Mathews

Mark Phillips Was Victim In Fatal Hixson Pike Wreck

Mark Phillips, 54, was the victim in a fatal Hixson Pike wreck on Saturday afternoon. Police said the driver of the Ford F150 that went out of control and struck the Phillips vehicle was 68-year-old Warren Elliott.
