Putt For Pets Fundraiser Set For Sept. 21

The 3rd annual Sigma Chi Putt for Pets Golf Classic will be held on Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Brainerd Golf Club. Sigma Chi Fraternity organizes the tournament as part of UTC's homecoming activities and raises funds for the McKamey Animal Center.

Registration, which is open to the public, opens at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. The fee is $80 per individual and includes 18-holes of golf, beverages and lunch. A hole-in-one could win a new Lexus.

In addition, a putting contest will take place concurrently with the tournament.

The winner of the putting contest could take home $5,000 cash. Qualifying for the putting contest takes place anytime between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The final "putt off" will take place at 3 p.m. The putting contest is also open to the public. Fee for the putting contest is $5 for one chance and $10 for three chances.

Prosecutors Asking Maximum Sentence For "Evil" Mother Of Jesse Mathews

Prosecutors are asking that the mother of the man charged with killing Chattanooga Police Sgt. Mark Phillips Was Victim In Fatal Hixson Pike Wreck

Mark Phillips, 54, was the victim in a fatal Hixson Pike wreck on Saturday afternoon. Police said the driver of the Ford F150 that went out of control and struck the Phillips vehicle was 68-year-old Warren Elliott.
