In comparing candidates for the office of mayor of the city of Chattanooga, there is no contest who is the most appropriate candidate. It seems that the responsibilities of being the mayor of the city of Chattanooga have been understated to a level that some believe that any experience is adequate to fulfill this position.
The mayor in Chattanooga is a position, similar to a CEO with thousands of employees that provide day to day services to citizens and economic development projects. Previous mayors, including Kinsey and Corker, possessed major project management experience and budget experience because it is a skill required to adequately perform the job. Both were wonderful mayors.
Secondly, the only means to access significant federal dollars is to keep committee efforts under the umbrella and control of city government. Private groups or committees cannot access grants or federal dollars, and there is only one mayoral candidate that understood this from the beginning. I want a mayor who knows how to get our communities share of federal transportation and economic development dollars.
Finally, the person we elect for mayor will have direct authority over operations that are essential for the health and safety of the community, and there is no time for a learning curve in these areas.
Re-elect Mayor Ron Littlefield in the best interest of our community.
