Alfonso Vinson, 66, of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, in a local hospital.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. and retired from Southeastern Salvage.

He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore R. Vinson; and brother, Theopolis P. Vinson.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce A. Vinson, of Chattanooga; son, Leavon (Ingrid) Thrasher, of Snellville, Ga.; daughters, Delois (Ray) Jackson, of Louisville, Ky., and LeAndrea C. (Gerald) Ware, of Chattanooga; six grandchildren; mother, Jessie Lee Vinson, of Courtland, Al.; brothers, Ronald L. (Shelia) Vinson and Gerald (Sabrena) Vinson, both of Decatur, Al.; sisters, Eloise (Mylun) White, Brenetta Vinson, both of North Courtland, Al. and Theresa (James) White, of Hillsboro, Al.; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Vinson, of Oxford, Ms.; devoted cousin, Joyce G. Scott; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at noon on Tuesday in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Jacks as eulogist and Pastor Kenneth Ware assisting. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The body will lie in state on Monday after 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Chemical Odor In Lookout Valley Traced To Chattanooga Tank Wash
