Three Miller & Martin Associates Become Members

The Chattanooga office of Miller & Martin has named three of its associates to member status.

Neil A. Brunetz concentrates his practice on courtroom representation of clients in civil litigation matters, including personal injury, wrongful death, workers' compensation, construction, contract, commercial disputes, and malpractice actions. He represents insurance companies and employers in defense of workers' compensation claims.

Mr. Brunetz has tried numerous bench and jury trials to conclusion on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts.

He received a B.A. from Rhodes College in 1997 and his J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2001 where he was managing editor of the Transactions Business Law Journal. He is the treasurer of the Federal Bar Association’s Chattanooga Chapter and a member of the Chattanooga and Georgia Bar Associations.

Kyle W. Eiselstein concentrates his practice in the area of civil litigation with an emphasis in complex commercial disputes. He represents business clients in a wide range of federal and state court cases, including matters involving alleged misrepresentation and fraud, breach of contract, business torts, insurance coverage, and product liability. He also represents individuals in significant personal injury claims.

He received a B.S. from Florida State University in 1994 where he graduated magna cum laude and his J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2000 where he was student materials editor of the Tennessee Law Review and Order of the Coif member. He is a member of the American, Chattanooga, Federal, and Tennessee Bar Associations.

Ian K. Leavy concentrates his practice in the area of Labor and Employment law. He provides counseling to local, state, and national clients regarding labor relations and general employment practices and procedures. He has handled overtime, discrimination, harassment and retaliation cases in various courts around the country. As part of his practice focus, Mr. Leavy has been trained in I-9 procedures and employer sanctions and provides assistance to employers in this area of legal compliance.

Mr. Leavy also practices in the area of Employee Benefits law. He provides counseling to nationally based clients regarding employee benefits issues including ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and other federal legislation, and can be of assistance in this regard in planning and designing employee benefits packages as they relate to foreign workers.

He received a B.A. from Washington and Lee University in 1997 where he graduated cum laude and his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2000 where he was Member of the Editorial Board for The Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law and an Honor Court Member. He is a member of the American, Chattanooga, Georgia and Tennessee Bar Associations.

Mother Of Man Charged With Killing Sgt. Chapin Given Prison Sentence Of 30 Years, 6 Months

The mother of the man charged with killing Chattanooga Police Sgt. I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt.
