The Chattanooga Housing Authority’s Neighborhood Networks Lab, located at Greenwood Terrace Apartments, is keeping residents “in the know” about how they can improve their way of life. CHA was awarded a $400,000 Neighborhood Networks grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to create a technology center at Greenwood last year.
Residents and their families now enjoy free access to computers for job searches, resume writing, general research and homework assistance, as well as information about a variety of supportive services. Here’s a look at what’s happening at the Neighborhood Networks Lab in November:
Every Monday and Thursday, 4-7 p.m.
The Neighborhood Networks Lab is offering free GED classes for residents. The classes are being sponsored by ReStart: The Center for Adult Education (formerly READ Chattanooga).
Tuesday, Nov. 3, 6:30 p.m.
Greenwood Terrace residents curious about their credit score can get all the answers they need as Gideon Thomas, with the Partnership for Families, Children and Adults, offers a crash course on this topic.
Thursday, Nov. 5, 5-7 p.m.
It’s an evening just for the ladies. With the way the economy is today, female residents at Greenwood Terrace will learn the importance of “pampering yourself” to relieve stress and get helpful tips on how to write a winning resume.
Saturday, Nov. 7, 11 a.m.
New moms have no need to fear because “Baby Basics” is here. Expectant mothers at Greenwood Terrace will learn all about the joys and challenges of parenthood. This free event is sponsored by ReStart, formerly READ Chattanooga. Moms of all ages are encouraged to attend.
Wednesday, Nov. 11, 3:30 p.m. Residents here are discovering ways they can help save the environment. Jeanette Eigelsbach is with Scenic Cities Beautiful Scenic and conducts programs in partnership with Hamilton County Recycling Program's Marcia Heath.
Monday, Nov. 16, 5:30-5:30 p.m.
Residents interested in seeking career opportunities in the field of technology should attend this meeting. ITT Technical Institute’s Brandi Brown will be the guest speaker and share information about the school’s two-year and four-year programs.
