Father Ryan Eases past Baylor, 21-11

Despite having more first downs (20-9), more yards rushing (190-113) and more yards passing (155-56), Baylor’s Red Raiders came out on the losing end Friday night against Father Ryan.

In a Division II high school football game at Baylor, Father Ryan walked away with a 21-11 victory.

Father Ryan improved to 7-3 and 5-2 in the league while Baylor dropped to 6-4 and 3-4.Both teams have qualified for the state playoffs.

Father Ryan got the upper hand quickly with first-quarter touchdowns from Jackson Coursey and Trey McPhail.

Baylor pulled with 14-11 at halftime on a field goal by James Bird and a touchdown from Sam Williams.

Father Ryan sealed the win on a touchdown run by Nick Bateman in the fourth quarter.

Father Ryan's Tyler Kincaid returned a punt 83 yards to the Baylor 5, leading to the Irish's first touchdown. On its next possession, Baylor lost a fumble at its own 23, leading to McPhail's touchdown and the 14-0 Father Ryan lead.

Williams ran for 87 yards on 13 carries for Baylor and quarterback Jacob Huesman ran for 101 on 12 attempts.

Baylor will play to to St. Benedict in the playoffs next Friday at 7 p.m.
