Kenneth Marsh
Kenneth Wayne Marsh Sr., 70, died on October 7, 2009 after a long fought battle with brain cancer. He was loved dearly by so many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Born on December 13, 1958 he was raised and resided in Hixson, Tn. Kenneth was a dedicated Christian and was a longtime member of Hixson First Baptist Church. He was also known by many as a jack of all trades.
He was a brickmason and homebuilder for most of his life as well as a member of the Home Builders Association for many years. He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, a private pilot, and a classic car enthusiast.
He was the most kind and generous person and his optimism was contagious throughout the last few years of his life.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Watt Marsh, father, Charles Marsh Sr., and stepfather Avery Watt.
Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary Jean Marsh; three children, Kenneth (Becky) Marsh Jr. of Soddy Daisy, Judy (Jim) Altheide of Murfreesboro, Tn., and Tommy (Patty) Marsh of Hixson; three siblings, Charles (Betty) Marsh Jr., Betty Sue (Jackie) Davidson, and Charlotte (Jack) Randles, all of Hixson; father-in-law, W.T Buckner of Decherd, Tn.; sisters-in-law, Rose (John) Stutz, of Hixson, and Kathy (Chip) Phillips of Nashville; six grandchildren, Brandi (Matt) Gowan of Ooltewah, Danielle Altheide, of Murfreesboro, Tn., Hannah and Holly Marsh of Hixson, Douglas Altheide of Shelbyville, Tn., and Derek Altheide of Ottumwa, Ia.; two great-grandchildren, Maddie Grace Gowan and Ariel Altheide; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the North Chapel with Pastor Joel Wood officiating.
Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, and on Saturday from noon until the time of the service at the North Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Marsh, Chuck Marsh, Matt Gowan, J.P. Cardwell, Douglas Altheide, Eddie Davidson, Tracy Smith, and Bill Pritchett.
A very special thanks to Dr.Gallagher, Dr.Streko, and Dr.Schlabach of Chattanooga and Dr.Reardon at Duke University Hospital for all of the compassion they show towards their patients in times of grief.
