Micah arguably qualifies as a lapdog, even though at 40 pounds you're not likely to cradle him in one arm while you walk out to get the mail. But Micah will definitely want to go out with you to get the mail, and then lay across your legs while you read it.

Micah shifts into playdog mode when you rise to your feet. He likes to frolic and chase balls. He is sociable and affectionate and quite irresistible to someone who prefers a more active pet.

Micah is about a year and a half old and still has the exuberance of a puppy. He has a mostly black coat, which qualifies him for a discounted adoption fee if adopted during November. Black dogs are often overlooked at shelters.

Micah is waiting for adoption at the Humane Society at 212 N. Highland Park Avenue (Animal ID A07910960). Kennel hours are 11-4 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Thursday hours are 11-6. Friday hours are 12-4. The phone is 624-5302.

Other black dogs can be visited and hugged on Nov. 14 and 15 at the PetSmart on Gunbarrel Road from 12-4 pm.

To volunteer at the Humane Society, call 624-5302 or email hesvolunteer@comcast.net.

We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response (2)

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ... Roy Exum: What 17 Pills Did To Me

Ah, step into my parlor of first-hand wisdom because, in the School of Hard Knocks, there are priceless lessons that you should know before it becomes your turn to dance. Never in my life have I ever had any back problems but, in early December, I came down with what is called sciatica and I have been a miserable man ever since. There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
