Chattanooga Police were initially unable to catch a felony suspect who officers said is responsible for numerous car burglaries and running from police, but he was taken into custody at 3508 Wilcox Blvd. on Thursday afternoon.

Police said he had been driving a possibly stolen, black Toyota FJ with a temporary tag on the back dated 11/23/09.

They said Gardenhire is a suspect in a car burglary that occurred at 6933 Lee Highway in the parking lot of the Rush Fitness Complex. He also has multiple outstanding felony warrants including theft over $500, theft over $1,000, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and felony evading.

While looking for the suspect vehicle earlier Thursday, police located it in the area of Shallowford Village Drive. When Chattanooga officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, Gardenhire pulled off. He stopped briefly to let out his pregnant passenger, then continued to run from the police. Gardenhire was able to get away from officers and is still on the run.

Police said Gardenhire accrued several more charges today for his acts.

His total list of charges is aggravated assault (on police), theft over $10,000; felony reckless endangerment, felony evading arrest and theft over $500.

If “time is money,” the whole deal cost us millions of dollars and even more ... (click for more)
