Georgia M. Burton, 88, of Birchwood, died on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, in a Chattanooga hospital.

She was a member of Burdette Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was known as a caretaker of her family and friends and as a wonderful homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Eva Friddell Pendergrass; her husband, Ed Burton; three brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Swafford of Ooltewah and Geraldine Isham of Rockwood; seven grandchildren, Steve Swafford of Georgetown, Mitchell Swafford of Ooltewah, Doug Swafford of Signal Mountain, Carrie Mullis of Kingston, Jackie Golliher of Rockwood, Tim Bandy of Kingston and Scott Bandy of Oak Ridge; one sister, Grace “Kewpie” McKenzie of East Ridge; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16 at the Burdette Baptist Church with Pastor David Evans and Pastor Ray Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in McInturff Cemetery concluding with a white dove release ceremony. Steve Swafford, Mitchell Swafford, Doug Swafford, Ryan Swafford, Tim Bandy, Scott Bandy, Charlie Mullis and Andy Mullis will serve as pallbearers.

Her family will receive friends on Monday at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife

Red Bank Commissioners Choose Kenneth Welch To Replace Greg Jones; Jeno Won't Run Again
