BlueCross Opens First Silver Life Center

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee launched its first Silver Life Center (SLC) on Monday at its headquarters in Chattanooga to offer a one-stop health resource center for area seniors. According to the U.S. Census Bureau the number of seniors in Tennessee is expected to nearly double by 2025.

The SLC is designed to offer services to seniors with membership in a BlueCross health plan, but will accommodate any senior or relative caregiver seeking information or services regardless of their membership status. Services such as wellness and care management, educational resources and access to the Internet will be available.




Medicare Counselor Training Offered In Jasper Feb. 29-March 2

Hixson Residents Donate To Ronald McDonald House

Bobby Vincent and his son Trey, of Hixson, made a $500 donation to the Chattanooga Ronald McDonald House in memory of Michelle Vincent, who passed away after a two year battle with cancer. She had signed up to serve as a volunteer for the Chattanooga Ronald McDonald House; however, shortly after completing a volunteer orientation and training she learned that she had cancer.  ... Dr. King, Dr. Metcalfe Switch Roles At Medical Examiner's Office; King Takes Pay Cut

Longtime Hamilton County Medical Examiner Frank King is switching roles with his assistant, Dr. James K. Metcalfe, county officials said. Dr. Metcalfe becomes medical examiner and Dr. King forensic examiner. County Mayor Jim Coppinger said the switch is "cost neutral" to the county. He said Dr. King would be taking a sizable pay cut. County Schools Ask That PILOT Funds Be Released By County

Hamilton County School officials are asking the County Commission to stop holding payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) funds, but let the money flow straight to the schools as it did until about a year ago.
