Police Blotter: Burglars Go After Big TV

Police said burglars at a residence on Stuart Terrace apparently came specifically to get an oversized TV.

The burglars kicked in the front door and took a 50" Panasonic TV worth $3,000.

Police said it would have taken several people to carry it out.

Officer Damon Davidson answered the call at the home of his mother, Dr. Deanna Davidson, after an alarm sounded.

The damage to the door and door frame was $1,000.

Matthew Strickland, a driver for United/Mayflower, said he parked his vehicle at the Super 8 motel on McCutcheon Road, went to Wendy's with a co-worker, then stayed at the motel.

The next morning he found that someone had broken into the cab of the moving van.

Items missing included a GPS, two cell phones, a crescent wrench and a monkey wrench.

A trail of glass led to behind the nearby Ramada Inn.

Linda Worley said she was driving on Glenwood Drive when her driver's side window was busted out and liquid splashed inside.

She said four black males were walking nearby, though she did not see anyone throw an item.

Police said it was likely a beer bottle or liquor bottle was thrown through the car window.

Benjamin Austin said he returned to his vehicle on Cowart Street and saw that papers were scattered around.

He found that someone had taken his digital camera and 25 tickets to the NCAA championship football game.

There was no sign of forced entry.

The manager of Dick's Sporting Goods on Gunbarrel Road said three black males were running inside the store, taking clothing and arrows.

By the time police arrived, two of the youths had departed.

Trevor Casteel said he was skipping classes at Orchard Knob Middle School.

Police took him home to his mother.

A report came in of three teens going door to door on Walker Road asking for money.

They told police they were on their way to Atlanta, but could not give an address. They had no ID.

After they were taken to Juvenile Court, it was learned they were runaways from Rhea County. They were taken to the Rhea County line where deputies were waiting for them.

A caller said a black male wearing a hoody was lying in the road on Babe Lane.

Police could not locate anyone matching that description.

Officers speculated it was a youth AWOL from nearby Hixson High School.

Police Blotter: Truck Drivers Steal 711 Gallons Of Diesel

Police said two men driving 18 wheelers stole 711 gallons of diesel from the Mapco on Rossville Boulevard. The diesel was valued at $2,594.44. Station employees said the pair broke out the side panel of a pump and pulled out a key. They drove off after filling up. They were described as two white males.
