Geraldine Benton Hamrick, 67, of Fort Oglethorpe, died on Wednesday, November 18, 2009.
She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas and was of the Baptist faith. She had worked at the WalMart in LaFayette as a cashier for the last nine years and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Sim and Fannie Mae Benton; her husband, Midge Hamrick; and two brothers, David and Ronnie Benton.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tony Honeycutt of Ringgold; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie Dewayne and Chris Waters of Bloomington, Il.; two brothers and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Linda Benton, and Rick Benton, all of Harrison; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Bill Coleman, of Ringgold, Carolyn and Mac Stoker, of Chickamauga, Ga., Sandy Croft Allen and Wayne Posey, of Gulf Shores, Al., and Phyllis and Eddie Close, of Knoxville; five grandchildren, U.S. Army SPC Matthew and Karen Honeycutt, Christopher Waters, Joey Waters, Bryce Honeycutt and Cameron Honeycutt; great-grandson, Wyatt Honeycutt, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Pastor Luther Eslinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakewood South Memory Gardens.
The family will begin receiving friends after 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, all day Friday, and prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
