4 Miller & Martin Attorneys Named “Lawyer Of The Year”

Best Lawyers, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession, has recently named four lawyers from Miller & Martin PLLC’s Chattanooga office as “Lawyer of the Year” in their particular fields of practice.

Richard D. Crotteau – Chattanooga Best Lawyers Real Estate Lawyer of the Year
Mr. Crotteau has represented developers in connection with: office buildings; industrial buildings; retail space; golf course recreational properties; large subdivisions with homeowner's associations; townhome developments; and build to suit projects for credit tenants.

He represented a hospital in a joint venture of two office buildings, including the negotiation and documentation process and the development of both a master lease and the office space leases. He represents general business clients.

James M. Haley, IV - Chattanooga Best Lawyers Banking Lawyer of the Year
Mr. Haley concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate, banking and commercial lending. He was lead counsel for two Tennessee banks in connection with a $20 million financing for acquisition and development of a 1,300-acre tract of land in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

He has served as borrower's counsel in connection with a $200 million senior credit facility and a related synthetic lease transaction. He represented one bank in connection with providing acquisition and construction financing for projects in Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, North Carolina, and Texas, and another in connection with providing $7 million financing to a carpet manufacturer in Georgia.

Mr. Haley has represented a developer in connection with a 215-unit residential condominium complex. He served as lead counsel for a developer in connection with a multi-million dollar acquisition of two real estate companies with approximately 2,000,000 square feet of leasable commercial space. He also served as lead counsel for the acquisition and development of a $200,000,000 corporate headquarters facility.

Roger W. Dickson – Chattanooga Best Lawyers Bet-the-Company Litigation Lawyer of the Year
Mr. Dickson concentrates his practice on litigation with an emphasis on complex commercial disputes, white collar crime, personal injury, and products liability. He handles major civil litigation for the world's largest soft drink bottling company and serves as lead national counsel defending a publicly traded consumer products company in hundreds of pharmaceutical product liability cases.

Mr. Dickson has represented clients in numerous federal grand jury investigations and trials involving antitrust violations, bank fraud, Medicare fraud, tax matters, labor law violations, and FDA matters. Mr. Dickson is a Rule 31 listed general civil mediator and serves as a mediator and arbitrator in all types of litigation.

John Phillips – Chattanooga Best Lawyers Labor and Employment Law Lawyer of the Year
Mr. Phillips concentrates his practice in the labor and employment area. In addition to handling complex disputes on behalf of employers, he has worked with employers of all sizes in a variety of industries to develop and implement personnel policies, compliance programs, affirmative action plans, alternative dispute resolution programs, training programs, reductions in force and other major reorganizations, and collective bargaining agreements.

Mr. Phillips served as managing partner of the firm from 1997-2002. He then served as vice president and Deputy General Counsel for Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. in Atlanta for five years, where he had primary responsibility for the company's alternative dispute resolution program, AAP/EEO compliance, legal issues in workforce reorganizations, the ethics and compliance hotline, and labor and employment litigation.

Chattanooga Honda Customer Charges Millions Of Hondas Contain Defect Rendering Side Windows Inoperable

Jeremy Bordelon of Chattanooga has filed a class action lawsuit against American Honda Motor Company, Inc.  for manufacturing and selling vehicles with allegedly defective window mechanisms.  The complaint charges that the Honda window defect poses a safety hazard to drivers and passengers nationwide, Mark P. Prosecutors Asking Maximum Sentence For "Evil" Mother Of Jesse Mathews

Prosecutors are asking that the mother of the man charged with killing Chattanooga Police Sgt. Tim Chapin be given the maximum possible sentence, calling Kathleen Mathews an evil manipulator who encouraged Jesse Mathews' criminal endeavors. Mark Phillips Was Victim In Fatal Hixson Pike Wreck

Mark Phillips, 54, was the victim in a fatal Hixson Pike wreck on Saturday afternoon. Police said the driver of the Ford F150 that went out of control and struck the Phillips vehicle was 68-year-old Warren Elliott.
