The body of a man wanted for a heinous murder in Marion County has been found in the Sequatchie River, authorities said Wednesday.
The body of Michael Shirley, who was wanted in the killing of girlfriend Brandi Duba, was found around 2 p.m. He was on the Top Ten Most Wanted list.
Searchers located the body about a mile below Ketner's Mill. Authorities said Shirley's wallet was on the decomposed body.
He had been sought by the TBI and other law enforcement agencies after the body of the 27-year-old Ms. Duba was found at her trailer home on Nov. 2. She had been beaten and stabbed while her children slept on a couch in the living room.
Ms. Duba's car was found wrecked near her home and that led officers to her body.
The TBI and Hamilton County STARS had been involved in the river search.
The body was sent to Nashville for an autopsy.
