Known as the “Rumble in Highway 27'', Soddy Daisy hosts Red Bank in a girls wrestling match tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Soddy Daisy Wrestling Arena (old high school).

The Trojans posted a convincing 82-60 win a year ago at Red Bank and lead the series 9-1.

Twenty-two matches are scheduled with each match consisting of three, 30-second periods.

The Trojans are led by Melissa Downs, Hayley Moreno, Brooke Hensley, Madison Murray, Dakota Johnson, Rachel Albrecht, Jordan Marlar and Ally Fien. Top newcomers are Summer Lanter and Katie Hall.

Returning veterans for Red Bank are Jaharra Dowdell, Danah Tatum, Rudy Couch and Abby McClure.

Strong freshman include Destiny Prince, Heather Millard and Marisa Thomasson.

Kiala Perry of East Ridge will also compete in two matches.

Coaches are Steve Henry of Soddy Daisy and Ben Reichel of Red Bank.

“Tonight's match is a great way to start the high school wrestling season and it will be exciting from the opening whistle,'' said Soddy Daisy coach Steve Henry.

“Every match will be fast-paced as there is no such thing as stalling in girls wrestling.''

Proceeds from the match benefit the boys wrestling programs.

Thoughts On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... A Good School Takes Involvement - And Response

As I have read the articles concerning Normal Park School I can’t keep from thinking when our children started to school in the 1960‘s. The two elementary schools in the city that were considered tops were Barger and Woodmore. We did not live in the zone for either school so we looked for a house to buy that was zoned for Woodmore.   We found ... (click for more)
