WTCI Family Day Set For Nov. 8

WTCI Family Day is scheduled for Sunday from noon-3 p.m. at WTCI’s broadcast studio, located at 7540 Bonnyshire Dr. WTCI is also sponsoring a book drive during the event to support Battle Academy.

Activities will include:

Meet PBS Kids characters: Caillou, Clifford, Leona from Between the Lions, Martha Speaks, and Alpha Pig from Super WHY! will greet children and a photographer will be on hand.

See Yourself on TV: Children will have a chance to see what it is like to be on TV in a special camera station set up in the studio.

Hear Your Favorite Story: Read 20, a Hamilton County organization promoting literacy skills for early childhood, will provide reading activities throughout the day in WTCI’s Ready to Learn Center.

Touch a Fire Truck: A fire engine and firefighters from the Chattanooga Fire Department will be teaching fire safety and children will have the chance to see a fire engine up close.

Have Your Face Painted: WTCI staff members will offer face painting for kids throughout the day.

Donate a Children’s Book: WTCI is holding a book drive during the event to support Battle Academy’s literacy program. Children who donate a used book at Family Day can pick out a new book from our Ready to Learn library.

Take a Station Tour: In November, WTCI is celebrating its two-year anniversary in the new broadcast center– attendees can tour the 30,000+ square foot, state-of-the art facility.

A $1 donation per person is suggested to those attending Family Day. WTCI’s studio is located at 7540 Bonnyshire Dr., next to the Tennessee Driver’s License Testing Center on Bonny Oaks. For additional details on Family Day activities, see www.wtciTV.org or call 702-7800.


Arbor Day Celebrations Scheduled For March 2-3

Lookout Valley, Tn. recorded the first tornado on what would become a historic 2-day tornado outbreak, at 7:55am on April 27, 2011. An EF 2 tornado with winds up to 135mph, damaged buildings, uprooted hundreds of trees and left one dead. Lookout Valley continues to rebuild from that day. An Anhydrous Ammonia leak at BASF Corporation on Amnicola Highway is causing major traffic issues this morning. The leak reportedly occurred shortly before 5 a.m. The Chattanooga Fire Department responded with several fire companies, and the haz-mat team.
