Fourth Annual Nutcracker Sweets Is Dec. 8

Friday, November 20, 2009

The fourth annual Nutcracker Sweets is a holiday event for the entire family. The event will be held at the Sheraton Read House Silver Ballroom on Tuesday, Dec. 8, from 6–8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling 423 697-3829 or at the door for $25 each.

Participation will be a sweet addition to this holiday event benefiting the Partnership for Families, Children and Adults’ Family Violence Shelter and Sexual Assault Center.

This year’s theme is An Enchanted Holiday and the event will feature live holiday music by Chattanooga State instrumental and vocal ensembles, led by Darrin Hassevoort, as well as the Chattanooga Boys Choir and the Metropolitan Bells.

An array of one-of-a-kind desserts will be available for tastings, prepared by local restaurants and bakeries such as St. John’s Restaurant, 212 Market, Hot Chocolatier, Cake Gallery, Gigi’s Cupcakes, and Café Lemont. Desserts will be judged by guest judges Andy Johns of the Times Free Press, “The Purple Lady” Sonia Young and James Howard of Sunny 92.3.

Southern Coffee Service will serve up a variety of coffees from around the world to compliment the sweets and children will delight in the enchanted candy land table stocked full of unlimited sweets.

Holiday shopping will be made easy at the silent auction featuring an autographed fishing rod from Jim Moyer, a case of craft beer from McNeill Bewery, named one of the top ten brews in the U.S. by the Smithsonian Institute and hand crafted holiday wreaths from local florists like Jeffrey’s, Humphrey’s Flowers and more.

There will also be unique, themed baskets beautifully wrapped and ready to give, which include jewelry from the Diamond Tower and Rick’s Gold and Diamonds, a child’s blanket quilted by a local artisan, home décor items from SmartHotBuys.com, and much more.

The gift shop is also the perfect source for purchasing holiday gifts with a purpose. Adults and children may participate in alternative gift giving by purchasing keepsake ornaments that provide services and holiday gifts to homeless women and victims of violence, in honor of a chosen gift recipient.

Organizers said, "By supporting this event, you’ll sweeten the season and provide much needed assistance to families and individuals in crisis. This event would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors Sunny 92.3 FM, Families Inc., SmartHotBuys.com, Erlanger Health System, Dr. and Mrs. Daniel Schubert, and Surgery Pharmacy Services."

We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response (2)

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ...
