Rep. JoAnne Favors paid tribute to Dr. James T. Nunally, who formerly was associated with the Southside and Dodson Avenue Community Health Centers, but now is in private practice only.

She presented him with a “Distinguish Citizen Award” for his “dedication and commitment to providing exemplary obstetrical and gynecological health care to patients and their families in his private practice, and at the Southside and Dodson Avenue Community Health Centers; and for his diligent work in significantly reducing health disparities in the high risk population of this community.”

Rep. Favors also stated, Dr. Nunally’s “high levels of skill and professionalism, graced with much humanity and kindness, have earned him the respect of his colleagues, co-workers, employees, and the community at large.”

Dr. Nunally said, “It was very flattering to have received the award. It was something that I never expected. In fact, I never thought that anyone even thought of me in that light. What’s equally amazing to me is for 16 years I served both clinics. It really doesn’t seem that long at all - I guess because I was doing something that I love doing, and that is serving the high risk population in our community.”

Dr. Nunally is now working exclusively for the Women’s Health Services, Inc., located at 251 N. Lyerly St., Suite 300, with his wife, Dr. Bess Ingram, and Dr. Sonya Johnson.

In addition to his wife's internal medicine and family practice, Dr. Nunally's obstetrics and gynecology practice also serves Erlanger and Parkridge hospitals.

Dr. Nunally and his wife, Bess, have two children, James III and Julian.

Thoughts On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
