A 23-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 58 on Saturday night.
The victim was identified as Rhonda L. Morgan of Ooltewah.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 9200 block of Highway 58 at approximately 6:47 p.m. on the traffic crash. The wreck occurred at the intersection of Highway 58 and Mahan Gap road.
Ms. Morgan was driving a 2000 Honda. Traffic investigators said she was stopped at the intersection of Mahan Gap Road and Highway 58 when she pulled out into the path of a 2001 Chevrolet truck driven by Vernon Norwood, 67, of Illinois. Mr. Norwood was traveling northbound on Highway 58.
Mr. Norwood was transported to Erlanger Hospital by Hamilton County Emergency Services and thought to have non-life threatening injuries.
Ms. Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The traffic investigation is on-going and being handled by Deputy Todd Cook, traffic investigator with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
