Roger Crawford will be the guest speaker at the 7th Annual “Possibilities: Siskin Hospital Celebrates Life Beyond Disability” luncheon on Tuesday, Feb. 23. The luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center.

Review for Roger Crawford:
Mr. Crawford lives and shares an unforgettable message of authentic courage. Born with four underdeveloped limbs and the eventual amputation of his left leg, Mr. Crawford faced many challenges in daily life. He refused to let his limitations stop him and became a living example that we all have the ability to achieve our possibilities despite the obstacles.

Mr. Crawford became a NCAA Division 1 Tennis Champion and was inducted into the National Hall of Fame for People with Disabilities. He is an internationally acclaimed author and his inspiring life story was included in the original Chicken Soup for the Soul series.

Sports Illustrated calls Mr. Crawford one of the most accomplished physically challenged athletes in the world. He is a true champion on and off the tennis court, living life beyond disability every day.

The Possibilities Luncheon will also feature personal accounts of how individuals have overcome their disabilities to accomplish amazing things. There will be a patient video with footage of Siskin Hospital patients who have a recovery story to share. Love, courage, and perseverance helped each person turn tragedy into triumph, as they discovered that life is full of possibilities, officials said.

A dedicated steering committee is working with Siskin Hospital employees to help coordinate the luncheon. Stan and Betsy McCright are the 2010 Steering Committee Co-Chairs. The Possibilities Luncheon is Siskin Hospital’s largest community-wide fundraising event, with proceeds helping to provide needed services for patients without adequate insurance to cover the cost of their care. S

Individual tickets to the event are $65. In honor of Siskin Hospital’s 20th Anniversary Celebration in 2010, a Platinum 20th Anniversary Sponsorship Table of eight is available for $2,000. Crystal Patron and Patron Sponsorship Tables of eight are available for $1,500 and $1,000.

Thoughts On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
