It didn't take long for the Ooltewah Owls to gain the upper hand in their basketball game against the visiting Meigs County Tigers Monday night.
With the Owls racing to a 19-0 lead before the Tigers scored, it never got much closer as Ooltewah improved to 2-0 with the 76-39 non-district victory.
"We came out pressing and trapping all of the floor and that really bothered the Meigs' offense," said Ooltewah coach Jesse Nayadley.
"We changed to our halfcourt defense in the second half and relaxed a little too much, but it was still a good win," the coach added.
The Owls will be off the rest of the week, but return to action next Monday when they host the East Hamilton Hurricanes.
