Watts Bar Employees Provide Food Baskets And Other Help To Needy Families

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

Employees at TVA’s Watts Bar
Nuclear Plant will provide more than 200 food baskets valued at
approximately $11,000 to deserving families and more than $22,500 to
surrounding counties to provide residents in need with clothing, toys
and other items.

Each year, Watts Bar employees provide food baskets for holiday
dinners to area families through the site’s Community Services Group.
The group also provides support throughout the year to families in
Rhea, McMinn, Roane, Monroe and Meigs counties, helping them obtain
groceries, clothing and other needed supplies.

The Watts Bar Community Services Group has been helping families in
the neighboring communities for the past 15 years.

“Employees at Watts Bar are among the most generous and caring individuals that I have ever known,” said Watts Bar Vice President Mike Skaggs.

“Their contributions along with proceeds from their purchase of items at the plant, such as hats and shirts, allow us to make the holiday season brighter for those in our community who are less fortunate. Making the holidays happier for some of our neighbors helps put us in
the holiday spirit. It’s what the holidays are all about,” Mr. Skaggs
said.

Thoughts On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
