Here is the weekly road construction report for Hamilton County:

US-27 FROM I-24 to the Olgiati Bridge: Geotechnical crews from PSI will be in the area performing core drilling for a future TDOT project. There will be no lane closures as a result of this activity, but there may be occasional shoulder closures during nighttime hours. Please be alert for workers and equipment near the roadway.

I-75 widening project from 1.1 miles south of Lee Highway (SR-2, US-11) to 1.2 miles north of Lee Highway (SR-2, SR-11): The contractor will only need a lane closure on I-75 during this period if there is an emergency situation which requires maintenance of items. If a lane closure is required, one lane of traffic will remain open at all times.

The contractor will have lane closures on Hill Top Road, Hunter Road, Snow Hill Road, Mountain View Road, Lee Highway, and Old Lee Highway from 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m. to construct new roadway and accommodate bridge demolition and gas line construction. However, the contractor must move off the roadway from 2:30-3 p.m. each day during the shift change at Miller Industries. One lane will remain open at all times.

The temporary slip ramp to I-75 South is now open at Hilltop Drive. Drivers needing to access I-75 South from the Hunter Road area can now do so by using the ramp at hilltop Drive, avoiding the Ooltewah interchange altogether. The slip ramp has its own dedicated lane onto the interstate so drivers accessing I-75 South via ramp are not required to merge when entering the interstate. The temporary ramp will be in place for the remainder of the project.

The bridge on Old Lee highway is now open to traffic. The truck station located at the end of the project on I-75 South is now closed and will remain closed for the duration of the project.
Estimated completion date is December 2010.

US-27 (I-124) repair of 15 bridges from I-24 (MM 0) to the Olgiati Bridge (MM 2.0): This project is complete and awaiting final inspection and addressing of punchlist items. Estimated completion date is November 2009.

US-41 signal installation at intersection of Ringgold Road and Camp Jordan Parkway: (Recovery Act Project) There will be temporary shoulder closures in both directions at the intersection of Ringgold Road and Camp Jordan Parkway. Estimated completion date is December 2009.

HAMILTON COUNTY, construction of concrete bulb-tee beam bridge on US-11 (SR-2, Cummings Hwy.) over Lookout Creek (LM 3.64) including grading, drainage and paving: The contractor will be implementing lane closures and temporary lane shifts between 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday in the work zone during construction operations. Flaggers will be in place to assist with traffic control. Estimated completion date is July 2011.

Hamilton, Bradley and Marion Counties, I-75 / I-24 / SR-153 / SR-29 construction of an intelligent transportation system on various interstate and state routes in and near Chattanooga: The contractor will implement shoulder closures throughout this report period within the project area on weekdays between the hours of 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and anytime on the weekend as part of the ITS construction. The contractor will implement lane closures at the following location between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next morning, to perform installation of structure conduit raceways and DMS uprights and paint median barrier walls.

I-75 NB @ MM 2.0 – Alternating Left & Right lane closure. Two lanes are to remain open.

I-75 SB @ MM 2.5 – Left lane closure. Two lanes are to remain open.

I-24 EB @ MM 183.5 - Alternating Left & Right lane closure. Two lanes are to remain open.

I-24 WB @ MM 180.8 - Alternating Left & Right lane closure. Two lanes are to remain open.

I-24 EB @ MM 179.6 - Alternating Left & Right lane closure. Two lanes are to remain open.
