Chattanooga’s Live Music Scene – Happy Thanksgiving!

Friday, November 27, 2009 - by Bob Payne WWW.MYSPACE.COM/DAVRIK

Happy Thanksgiving music fans! I hope you and your family and friends have a safe and enjoyable holiday. There is live music this weekend and what better way to cap off a holiday feast than to go out and listen to some local music and get your groove on. There is even some music tonight, and in fact, there is some good music tonight!

The wonderful Nathan Farrow Band is playing in a special Thanksgiving benefit at The Palms At Hamilton. Bring a non-perishable food item to benefit the Chattanooga Community Kitchen and enjoy the free concert, beginning at 9 p.m. If you have never been to the Palms, it’s a beautiful place, right on Shallowford Rd., between Lee Highway and I-75.

Champy’s on MLK is hosting a Thanksgiving Day blues bash, featuring another of my favorite bands, Iron Mike & The Delta Rockers. This band is fun and features some mighty fine musicians.

Rhythm & Brews has a Dave Matthews Tribute band tonight. Channing Wilson will be appearing at Bud’s Sportsbar tonight. JJ’s Bohemia has music tonight with Chooglin and Oxxen.

Saturday night, The Riverhouse Pub on Frazier Avenue is having a Toys For Tots benefit concert. Bring along a toy and get in for free. 8 bands will be playing, so a good time should be had by all!

Bob’s pick-o-the-weekend is the Grand Illumination festivities on the riverfront Friday Night. The boat parade, music, and Santa. That’s what I’m talking about.

My pick-o-the week is the Nathan Farrow Band at The Palms. This is a benefit event that features a great band!

Thoughts On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... A Good School Takes Involvement - And Response

As I have read the articles concerning Normal Park School I can’t keep from thinking when our children started to school in the 1960‘s. The two elementary schools in the city that were considered tops were Barger and Woodmore. We did not live in the zone for either school so we looked for a house to buy that was zoned for Woodmore.   We found ... (click for more)
