Man Shot After Leaving Brainerd Nightclub

Chattanooga Police are investigating an early morning shooting in Brainerd in which one man was injured.

A call of shots fired at 5621 Brainerd Road was received by 911 personnel at 2:30 a.m. At approximately 3 a.m., a man with a gunshot wound showed up at Erlanger Hospital by personal vehicle.

Officers responded to Erlanger and spoke with the victim, James Appling, 21, who had been shot in the right thigh. He advised that he was leaving a local nightclub, walking in the rear lot of a nearby restaurant, when he was approached by a black male with dreads and a light complexion.

The suspect asked for change and, when Mr. Appling stated that he didn’t have change, the suspect grabbed him by the throat and shot him in the right thigh.

There is no suspect information at this time. Mr. Appling’s condition is unknown at this time, but his wounds appeared to be non-life threatening.

Tullahoma Man Pleads Guilty In Child Pornography Case

Denver C. Cole, 40, of Tullahoma, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Federal Court in Chattanooga to receipt of child pornography in interstate commerce by means of a computer.  Sentencing is set for 9 a.m. on May 21.
