FREEPORT, Bahamas – Brainerd’s Panthers, coached by legendary coach Robert High, finished third here Saturday in the Tabernacle high school basketball tournament.
In a semifinal, host Tabernacle Baptist Academy defeated the Panthers, 49-33.
Jalen Stallion led Brainerd with 10 points. Other Brainerd players (Bennett 8, Hughley 5, Williams 4, Derrick 4, J. High, Broome 2, T. High.)
Travis Wildgoose led Tabernacle with 12 poitns and Garth Brown added 10 points.
In the consolation game, Brainerd defeated Pinewood Prep, 61-54.
Dammius Bennett led Brainerd with 20 points while Joe Derrick had 18 points and eight rebounds and Anthony Broome scored 12. Other Brainerd players (Stallion 6, Williams 3, J. High, Hughley).
Brain Hayes had 16 for Pinewood while Jerome Deas scored 14, and Steve Chase added 13.
Brainerd’s Bennett was voted all-tournament.
