Family Of 7 Escapes Red Bank Duplex Fire

4 Dogs Get Out Too

Sunday, November 29, 2009

A Red Bank family of seven will be staying with friends tonight after losing everything to a fire at their residence.

A neighbor called 911 reporting a fire at 3216 Joselin St. The Red Bank Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene within minutes reporting fire showing on the back side of the duplex and coming through the attic as well.

Firefighters immediately conducted a quick search of the residence and extinguished the fire to alleviate the fire from spreading to the adjacent side of the duplex.

Red Bank fire officials requested a mutual aid response to assist them. Walden's Ridge Emergency Services, the Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department and the Soddy Daisy Fire Department responded to Joselin Street. Chattanoga-Hamilton County Rescue responded as well for rehab.

The renters, David and Rebecca Ashley, were able to react quickly and get all five children and four dogs out of the house. No injuries were reported, but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries. The Ashley family lost most of their valuables and will have to find a new residence.

The American Red Cross responded to the scene and will be assisting the Ashley family.

According to Red Bank fire officials, the damages are estimated at $200,000. The A side (Ashley residence side) is a total loss. The B side of the duplex sustained water and smoke damage. It is unknown if the owner of the duplex was insured, but the Ashley family did not have renter's insurance. The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Red Bank Fire Department.

We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ... If “time is money,” the whole deal cost us millions of dollars and even more ... (click for more)
