Students Learn How To Prevent A Future Financial Crisis

Local bankers, financial planners and concerned citizens are donating time to help area high school students prevent a future financial crisis.

More than 30 volunteers with the Chamber’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire program are sharing real life examples to prepare 11th graders for the harsh realities of money issues.

Students are learning how lattes, burgers and video games may be standing between them and a secure financial future.

In the Millionaire sessions students will learn to buy a car, save money for college and keep credit cards under control.

The sessions will be held:
Nov. 4 at Brainerd from 7:15-10:30 a.m.
Nov. 5 at East Hamilton from 7:15 a.m.-2:15 p.m.
Nov. 5 at Soddy from 7:15-10:33 a.m.
Nov. 6 at Hixson from 7:25-10 a.m.
Nov. 10 at Red Bank from 7:30-9:45 a.m.
Nov. 13 at Tyner from 10:15 a.m.-1 p.m.
Nov. 16 at Central from 7:30-11:35 a.m.
Nov. 17 at Ooltewah from 7:15 a.m.-2:15 p.m.
Nov. 20 at Washington Alternative from 2-3:30 p.m.
Dec. 8 at Creative Arts from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

Pickup Truck Crosses To Wrong Side Of Hixson Pike: Other Driver Killed

A pickup truck went across Hixson Pike into the opposing lane of traffic on Saturday afternoon, then struck another vehicle. The driver of that car was killed. Signs Vandalized At Cummings Cove As Battle With OHV Owners Continues

Two large advertising signs at the Cummings Cove development in Lookout Valley were vandalized Friday. One sign was spray painted with an expletive and another had the word "Aetna" in large letters.  There has been a long-running dispute between owners of Cummings Cove and those who enjoy going up the old Aetna Mountain Road to ride off-highway vehicles.
