Church Donates 5.5 Acres Along Creek For Hixson Greenway

Tuesday, November 03, 2009

The Clear Creek Church of Christ is donating 5.5 acres for use as part of the Hixson Greenway.

Rick Wood, executive director of the Trust For Public Land, hailed the gift, saying it is a key piece of expanding the greenway from its current terminus near Greenway Farm on Hamill Road.

Mr. Wood said the scenic property includes a long stretch of North Chickamauga Creek.

He said TPL has been in contact with the church for some 20 years seeking to work out the donation.

Mr. Wood said a section of the trail near Hixson Middle School and the new Morning Pointe facility is being constructed now.

He said that will eventually be linked to the Clear Creek section and on to Greenway Farm.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
