State Rep. Kevin Brooks (R-Cleveland) announced that he will seek re-election to the Tennessee House of Representatives in the 24th District.

Rep. Brooks said, “My family and I are very grateful for the tremendous outpouring of support and encouragement during this process. We are humbled by the overwhelmingly positive comments sent our way.

“I am incredibly fulfilled serving the people of the 24th District in ‘The People’s House’. This has been the greatest opportunity ever afforded to me, but there is still much work to be done to make Cleveland and Bradley County the best possible community in the state of Tennessee.”

Rep. Brooks was first elected to the TN House of Representatives in 2006 and has served in the 105th and 106th General Assemblies. During his two terms in office he was elected by his colleagues to serve as the vice-chairman of the Republican Caucus and has been selected to serve as vice-chairman of the Children and Family Affairs Committee. Other official duties include serving on the influential House Finance Ways & Means Committee, the House Education Committee, House Rules Committee, Vice-Chair of House Domestic Relations Subcommittee and a member of the House Higher Education Subcommittee

“We appreciate Rep. Brooks’ hard work on the behalf of our Caucus and for the citizens of the 24th District. I certainly look forward to his continued great service in the House and in his leadership role,” said Rep. Glen Casada, House Republican Caucus Chairman. “He is a man of great integrity."

Rep. Brooks serves the 24th Legislative District in Cleveland and Bradley County. He and his wife, Kim, are actively involved in the community and local public schools with their two children, Zach and Elizabeth, who attend Cleveland High School.

Thoughts On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
