Betty L. Payne, 84, of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at her residence.

She retired from Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute. She was a faithful member of New Anointing Pure Holiness Church of God where she had served on the Mother’s Board, Usher Board and sang in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Mattie Bradley; and husband, Robert Payne.

Survivors include her daughter, Rosie Branch; grandchildren, Tor (Claudia) Branch, Charmin (Roderick) Harris and Ameria Branch; great-grandchildren, Roje, Nia, Chantl, Idalis and Torrean; great-great-grandchildren, Amaury and Anyia; sisters, Lucille Jones and Daisy Mitchell; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be on Friday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. at New Anointing Pure Holiness Church of God with Bishop A.D. Ringer officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Family hour will be on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 5-6:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Waldo Oran Kinser, 58, of Chatsworth, Ga., died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at his residence. Waldo was born May 12, 1953 in Ellijay, Ga., a son of the late Wilbur Oran and Texxie Dotson Kinser; and was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Kinser; and sister, Debbie Kinser. Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife

Ammonia Leak At BASF On Amnicola Highway Causes Major Traffic Backups

A leak of anhydrous ammonia at BASF Corporation on Amnicola Highway forced the closure of main thoroughfares Tuesday morning, causing major problems for rush-hour traffic heading into Chattanooga.  The incident began around 4:30 a.m. at the plant when a small fire broke out at an anhydrous ammonia pump.
