JoAnn Ray, 78, of Cleveland, died on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 in a local hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Cora Belcher Potter and Ben Harrison Potter; and was also preceded in death by her husband George Ray; four sisters; and four brothers.

She worked for Norris Industries in Ypsilanti, Michigan for 26 years, at the time of her death she worked as a greeter for Walmart in Cleveland for 11 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was of the Christian faith.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Preston of Cleveland; granddaughter, Jacqueline of Cleveland; grandson, Shawn Green of Englewood, Fla.; great- granddaughter, Alexandra Ray of Cleveland; great-grandson, Christopher Green of Englewood, Fla.; soon coming great–grandson, Joseph Green of Englewood, Fla.; sisters, Georgia Elkins of Garden City, Mich. and Dessie LaBorde of Livonia, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim Rush Funeral Homes, Wildwood Avenue Chapel is in charge of the Cremation services.

Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife

Ammonia Leak At BASF On Amnicola Highway Causes Major Traffic Backups

A leak of anhydrous ammonia at BASF Corporation on Amnicola Highway forced the closure of main thoroughfares Tuesday morning, causing major problems for rush-hour traffic heading into Chattanooga.  The incident began around 4:30 a.m. at the plant when a small fire broke out at an anhydrous ammonia pump.
