Dalton Police Make Arrest After Woman Passenger Injured

Friday, November 06, 2009

The Dalton Police Department has arrested Jesus Salazar Guerrero of 622 5th Ave. after a woman was found injured in the middle of Emery Street early Friday morning. He is being charged with hit and run, failure to render aid and reckless conduct.

At 6:24 a.m., Dalton Police officers were dispatched to Emery Street near McBride Street with a report of an injured woman lying in the middle of the road.

The victim, 21-year-old Amanda Dawn Hernandez of 612 Stone St., was transported to Hamilton Medical Center.

The DPD’s Traffic Unit and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene. A witness reported seeing a red four-door car leaving the scene with the rear driver’s side door open. After speaking to friends of the victim, detectives contacted Guerrero, who told them he was driving Ms. Hernandez in his car when she jumped out of the moving vehicle.

It is not clear if Ms. Hernandez’s injuries were caused by jumping out of the car or by being hit by a vehicle, police said.

This incident remains under active investigation.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
