Received Purple Heart As Paratrooper During World War II

Walter Jackson White, 82, of Rossville, died on Thursday, November 5, 2009.

He was born in Chattanooga to the late Thomas and Marietta White.

Walter served his country in WWII, in the U.S. Army Paratroopers, and received a Purple Heart. He retired from Crane Co. after 40 years of service as an inspector.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mildred White, children, Glen White, Raymond White, Ralph Compton, Marlene Lee all of Rossville, siblings, Joseph White of Houston, Texas, Ruby Garner of Fort Oglethorpe, ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, in the chapel with Reverends Billy Fowler and Alfred Johnson officiating. Interment will follow Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

His family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2-8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, and prior to the service on Monday.

Waldo Oran Kinser, 58, of Chatsworth, Ga., died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at his residence. Waldo was born May 12, 1953 in Ellijay, Ga., a son of the late Wilbur Oran and Texxie Dotson Kinser; and was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Kinser; and sister, Debbie Kinser.
