Tommy Lebron Lay Sr., “Bubba,” 52, died on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at his residence.

He was born September 4, 1957 to Harold Lay, Sr., and Vinia L. Gladden. Tommy accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized as a member of Mount Paran Baptist Church.

Tommy graduated from Howard High School class of 1975. Tommy was a devoted father and grandfather, a great friend to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda Lay; sister, Mary “Kitty” Davis; grandmother, Velma Young; grandfather, Damon Lewis and godparents, Oscar and Minnie Strawter.

He is survived by one daughter, Tawanna Lay; son, Tommy Lay Jr.; three grandsons, Jerell, Lebron, Naquann Lay, all of Chattanooga; grandmother, Marie Byrd, Ga.; stepmother, Vinnie Lay of Chattanooga; three half-sisters, Shelia (Brian) McClendon of Rossville; Mona Cummings, Chattanooga; Ethelyn Moore, Texas; half-brother, Harold (Ella) Lay Jr.; brother-in-law, Calvin Davis; sisters-in-law, Regina (Cornelius) McWhorter, Karen Shoulders, Andrea Anderson, Sheila Anderson, Chattanooga; uncle, Willie H. Lewis; aunt, Ophelia Johnson, Chattanooga; great-aunt, Mary Bass, Athens, Al.; devoted nephews, Carlos Davis, Nashville and Quinn Tomlin, Va.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to services at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.

Kinser, Waldo Oran (Chatsworth)

Waldo Oran Kinser, 58, of Chatsworth, Ga., died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at his residence. Waldo was born May 12, 1953 in Ellijay, Ga., a son of the late Wilbur Oran and Texxie Dotson Kinser; and was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Kinser; and sister, Debbie Kinser. An Chattanooga man told police Monday night that he had just murdered his wife.  Police said Robert Hardnett showed up at the County Jail to turn himself in.
