Briarcrest Eliminates McCallie In Overtime, 36-29

MEMPHIS -- Briarcrest tied the game with 37 seconds left in the third quarter, added a touchdown in overtime and defeated McCallie, 36-29, in a Division II-AA state playoff game here Friday night.

Briarcrest improved to 7-4 while McCallie ended its season at 4-7.

Briarcrest will play at Father Ryan next week in a state quarterfinal.

Briarcrest took a 21-10 halftime lead, but McCallie roared back with three touchdowns in the third quarter for a 29-21 lead. Daniel McClure scored two touchdowns in the third quater and quarterback Trent Lusk ran for another.

P.J. McNeill scored his second touchdown for Briarcrest with 37 seconds left in the third quarter and then scored on a converson pass to tie the game.

McNeil scored the game-winning touchdown on a 7-yard run in overtime.

McNeil ran for 201 yards on 29 carries for Briarcrest and McClure had 119 yards on 20 carries for McCallie.
