The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has added a man wanted for the recent murder of his girlfriend in Marion County to its list of Top Ten Most Wanted fugitives.
A first-degree murder warrant was taken out for the arrest of Michael Joseph Shirley, 29, last known address 142 Cheri Circle, Whitwell, on Wednesday.
Shirley is wanted for the beating and stabbing death of 27-year-old Brandi Duba. Law enforcement authorities discovered Ms. Duba’s body on Tuesday in the residence she shared with the suspect. There were two small children sleeping in the living room when her body was found in a bedroom.
The victim’s vehicle was also discovered burned and abandoned a short distance away.
The TBI said Shirley has a violent criminal history dating back to 1999. It includes theft, drug charges, evading arrest, assaulting a police officer, aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and DUI.
Shirley is described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 6’3”, weighs 225 pounds and has numerous tattoos including a swastika on his back. He is considered armed and dangerous and should be approached with caution.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Michael Joseph Shirley is urged to call the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND. There is a $1000 reward for information leading to his capture.
