Red Bank Spearheads All-District 6-AA Football Team

Anthony Broom, Tim Daniels Earn Top Player, Coach Honors

The Red Bank Lions are unbeaten and top-ranked in their classification, so it's no surprise that the Lions had the most honorees when the 2009 6-AA All-District team was named this week.

Red Bank's Tim Daniels was voted as the Coach of the Year while Lion assistants Kraig Campbell and Kenny Cobble were voted as the Offensive and Defensive Assistants of the Year, respectively, by the 6-AA coaches.

Brainerd quarterback Anthony Broom was voted as the overall Player of the Year while Red Bank's Keon Williams and Stefan Nelson of East Ridge earned Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors, respectively.

Red Bank's Keith Mayes was selected as the Special Teams Player of the Year while teammate Greg Evans was honored with the Academic Award.

East Hamilton's Chris Moore was selected as the Kicker of the Year.

Red Bank had six players voted to the first team and five more to the second team.

Brainerd was next with five on the first team and four on the second while Central had three each on the first and second teams.

East Ridge had five first-team picks and one on the second while Tyner had one on the first team and six on the second.

Howard and Hixson both had one chosen for the first team with Howard getting two on the second team and Hixson one.

Red Bank's honorees included quarterback Andy Christopher, receiver Josh Robinson and linemen Mike Burnette and Evans on offense while lineman Kevin Fortson and back Jeremy Jackson earned first team on defense.

Running back Tim Dews and receiver Kelvin Clay earned second team honors on offense while teammates Malcolm Goines (lineman, Anthony Rogers and Shammell Brummitt (both linebackers) earned second team defense honors.

Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife

Ammonia Leak At BASF On Amnicola Highway Causes Major Traffic Backups

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt.
