Norman Frederick “Rick” Hutchings, 54, of Cleveland, died on Friday November 6, 2009 at the family residence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Caroline Kuhn Hutchings and Max Hutchings.

Mr. Hutchings worked in construction most of his life and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. His friends called him “Stretch” and he loved working with wood. Rick attended Asbury United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Ray Hutchings of Cleveland; two step-sons, Daniel Banks and Kevin Gates; one step-grandson, Patrick Banks; one brother, Michael David Hutchings of Ocala, Fla.; two sisters, Carol Mosely of Lexington, Tn. and and Jennifer Hutchings of Houston, Tx.; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service at a later time. The body was cremated.

The family requests that memorials be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 3171 Hewitt Street, SE, Cleveland, TN 37311, phone # 423 476-2340.

Ammonia Leak At BASF On Amnicola Highway Causes Major Traffic Backups

An Anhydrous Ammonia leak at BASF Corporation on Amnicola Highway is causing major traffic issues this morning. The leak reportedly occurred shortly before 5 a.m. The Chattanooga Fire Department responded with several fire companies, and the haz-mat team. Woman Shot Up To 8 Times In East Chattanooga Murder

Chattanooga Police pfficers responded Monday night to 1907 Daisy St. in East Chattanooga on a report of a woman who had been shot.  When they arrived around 9 p.m., they found a female inside the business who had been shot 4-6 times.
