Wilford L. Coleman, 88, of Dalton, Ga., died Saturday morning, Nov. 7, 2009 at the Ridgewood Health Care Center.

Wilford was born February 14, 1921 in Polk County, Tn., a son of the late Grady W. and Ida Hartness Coleman; and was also preceded in death by his first wife Bertha Crain Coleman; son, Glen Coleman; brothers, Wendell, Calvin and Clarence Coleman; sisters, Mamie Panter and Edna Barfield.

He is survived by his wife, Viola Payne Coleman of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, James and Christa Coleman of Savannah, Ga.; daughters, Eva Croy of Crandall, Ga. and Carol Wong of Cypress, Cal.; sisters, Imogene Maynor of Ellijay, Ga., Mae Baker of Dalton and Hazel Smith of Chatsworth; step-children, Doris Swan, Joyce King, Steve and Lisa Barton; grandchildren Kevin, Roxanne, Meredith, Terri, Patricia, Michael Wayne, Jennifer, Michael and families; step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Wilford Coleman with be held Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Spangler officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9.

Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife

Ammonia Leak At BASF On Amnicola Highway Causes Major Traffic Backups
