Elizabeth Betty Ann Whitfield, 77, died on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009.

She had lived in the North Georgia area for most of her life and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon E. Whitfield; two brothers, Henry and Glen Rucks; and sister, Roberta Whitfield.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa (Ralph) Byrum, of Ooltewah; sons and daughters-in-law, Bob (Pam) Whitfield, of East Ridge, and Randall (Nancy) Whitfield, of Tiftonia; brother, Harrie Lee Rucks, of Rossville; two sisters, Eugenia Johnson, of Alabama, and Marjorie James, of Dalton, Ga.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; special friends, Hazel, Charlie and Gary Floyd and Cristy and Dillion Hunt; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with the Rev. Dwight Deal officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, all day Monday, and prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga and the staff of Saint Barnabas Nursing Home for their care and concern for Mrs. Whitfield.

Kinser, Waldo Oran (Chatsworth)

Waldo Oran Kinser, 58, of Chatsworth, Ga., died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at his residence. Waldo was born May 12, 1953 in Ellijay, Ga., a son of the late Wilbur Oran and Texxie Dotson Kinser; and was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Kinser; and sister, Debbie Kinser. Ammonia Leak At BASF On Amnicola Highway Causes Major Traffic Backups

An Anhydrous Ammonia leak at BASF Corporation on Amnicola Highway is causing major traffic issues this morning. The leak reportedly occurred shortly before 5 a.m. The Chattanooga Fire Department responded with several fire companies, and the haz-mat team. Woman Shot Up To 8 Times In East Chattanooga Murder

Chattanooga Police pfficers responded Monday night to 1907 Daisy St. in East Chattanooga on a report of a woman who had been shot.  When they arrived around 9 p.m., they found a female inside the business who had been shot 4-6 times.
