Senator Jim Kyle announced Monday that he will not seek another term as chairman of the Shelby County legislative delegation.
Citing his belief that “… our Delegation will only benefit as each new Chair continues to encourage fresh ideas and initiatives,” Senator Kyle informed his fellow senators and representatives that he would be stepping down.
He said, “The coming Legislative session is certain to be a difficult one, given our budgetary problems. With that in mind, I encourage each of you to be thinking about the person you feel will be best qualified to lead the Delegation through this coming year.”
Senator Kyle, who also serves as Democratic leader in the Senate, has scheduled a meeting Jan. 7 for the election of officers, aimed at ensuring a smooth transition prior to the convening of the legislative session Jan. 12, 2010.
