Edward Lamar Buckner, 53, of Cleveland, died on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 in a Chattanooga hospital.

He was a roofer. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Buckner and Lola Thompson Buckner and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Buckner of Cleveland; children, Steven Buckner and Nathan Buckner, both of Cleveland; two grandchildren; five sisters, Ethel Slaughter, Reba Cate, Charlotte McClure, Hazel Redd and Kathleen Cate, all of Cleveland; brother, David Buckner of Benton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Earls Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
