Ten UTC student-athletes received their diplomas at the school's 232nd Commencement on Sunday at the McKenzie Arena.

"I would like to congratulate all of our student-athletes who finished this portion of their academic careers today," stated UTC Director of Athletics Rick Hart. "They have all pursued comprehensive excellence, academically, athletically and socially, during their time at UTC and are all excellent representatives of Mocs athletics, the University and the Chattanooga community. I look forward to watching them continue to live productive and meaningful lives now that their undergraduate careers are complete."

Seven members of the Mocs football program, including five who were a part of the 2009 squad that saw the biggest turnaround in school history, received their diplomas today.
Team captains Clint Woods and Steven Smigelsky both graduated Sunday. Smigelsky, an Academic All-Southern Conference linebacker, finished his Bachelor of Science in Biology while Woods earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics.

Justin Buckhalter, a receiver from Collins, Miss., transferred to UTC prior to the start of the 2008 season after spending two years in junior college. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Psychology while playing in every game last season.
Craig Camay, Tony Pastore and Joseph Pitman all finished their degrees in Health and Human Performance. Camay was a First Team All-SoCon kicker in 2009 while Pastore was the primary back-up at quarterback for most of the season. Pitman, a tight-end from Marietta, Ga., finished his playing career in 2008.

Jeff Lloyd, the Mocs' starting punter in 2008, earned his degree in Business Administration.

Jeff Smith definitely had the busiest schedule of all of the graduates this weekend. A guard on the men's basketball team, Smith saw action off the bench in UTC's win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday, received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration on Sunday and is now preparing for No. 21 Georgia Tech's visit to the McKenzie Arena on Monday night.

Representing the softball team is Toni Hutchison who earned a degree in Health and Human Performance today. She finished her illustrious career with a .264 batting average, 21 home runs, 123 RBIs and 518 assists, more than any other player to wear a Chattanooga uniform.

Nick Davis also graduated today. He was a member of the Mocs' wrestling team from 2006-08.
