Summer Dregs

From Gold To Green

By Daniel Brantley

A collaborative effort headed and funded in part by CreateHere, a nonprofit aimed at “harnessing the economic potential of creative individuals,” From Gold To Green offers a new look into the creative mind of Carl Cadwell. Getting assistance from some of his old Infradig partners and other Chattanooga-based musician friends, Cadwell keeps his hands busy on the keys, while various singers guide the song up and over gentle rolling hills of electronic pop.

Though the music never breaks over the edge where calm meets chaos, Summer Dregs is confident in their restraint. Where Infradig made you feel the groove beneath a screaming cacophony of instrumentation, Summer Dregs is more interested in helping you follow the music. It’s straightforward, but has enough undertones to allow listeners to ride on the top or bottom of Summer Dregs’ double-decker whispering electronic bus.

Sweet electropop not sound electrifying? Spend 45 minutes with From Gold To Green and your appetite may change. If these are the dregs, the rest of the summer must have been magically delicious.

Thoughts On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... A Good School Takes Involvement - And Response

As I have read the articles concerning Normal Park School I can’t keep from thinking when our children started to school in the 1960‘s. The two elementary schools in the city that were considered tops were Barger and Woodmore. We did not live in the zone for either school so we looked for a house to buy that was zoned for Woodmore.   We found ... (click for more)
