Freedoms Foundation Tour Of Homes Is Saturday

The Annual Tour of Homes of the Chattanooga Chapter of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $10 per person.

The Tour of Homes is held each year to help raise money to send 11th grade students to the “America Youth Leadership Summit” which will be held on April 22-25, 2010 on the Freedoms Foundation Campus at Valley Forge, PA. The Essay Topic this year is “What is My American Dream”.

All 11th grade students are encouraged to participate in this opportunity to explore their role as citizens today and in the future. The Freedoms Foundation is dedicated to effectively communicating to young people the principles upon which our nation was founded and balances of rights and responsibilities of its citizens, it was stated.

In addition to sending students to the leadership conference, many of which win national awards, the unit also presents national awards to deserving persons or organizations who by words or deeds have excelled as American citizens, personifying the essence of freedom. The group also presents Good Citizenship Awards to students who do the right thing because it is the right thing to do as good citizens.

Officials said, "We rely on individuals and organizations to help us succeed in our endeavor to fund as many students and projects as possible in addition to raising money by sponsoring the Tour of Homes, selling fruit cakes, pecans, chocolate covered peanuts and presently we are accepting $5 donations for a beautiful large red, white and blue afghan which will be given to the donor whose ticket will be drawn."

Prosecutors Asking Maximum Sentence For "Evil" Mother Of Jesse Mathews

Prosecutors are asking that the mother of the man charged with killing Chattanooga Police Sgt. Mark Phillips Was Victim In Fatal Hixson Pike Wreck

Mark Phillips, 54, was the victim in a fatal Hixson Pike wreck on Saturday afternoon. Police said the driver of the Ford F150 that went out of control and struck the Phillips vehicle was 68-year-old Warren Elliott.
